Bruges is known for its chocolates and beers but obviously Bruges has more to offer. Don't forget to visit the following must sees on your next visit;
1. Church of our Lady
When approaching Bruges one can already see from far the highest tower in the city, the tower of our Lady's church. Although this church is not the most important one on religious level it certainly attracts more visitors because of its medieval character and the important works of art that can be admired here. The reason why so many tourists visit the Our Lady is of course the presence of the Madonna by Michelangelo and the splendid tombstones of Mary of Burgundy and her father Charles the Bold.
2. Belfry tower
The Belfry tower is situated on the Market Square, is 88metres in height and houses the former city treasury. A climb of 366 steps takes the visitor past the impressive clock mechanism and culminates in a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and its surroundings.
3. Chocolates
Bruges and Chocolates... a match made in heaven! Do visit the Chocolate Museum and find out everything there is to know about chocolates! You'll even see 'how chocolate is made' and get the chance to try some Bruges Chocolates.
4. The Market Square
The Market Square in Bruges is the medieval commercial centre of the city. One of the city's most impressive monuments is the Belfry tower and on the north side the Provincial Cour. On the Square you will also find the statues of Jan Breydel and Pieter Deconinck who were leading figures in the resistance against the French occupation in 1302
