Brussels Hotels

The name Brussels comes from the Old Dutch "bruocsella", which means marsh (bruoc) and home (sella) or "home in the marsh". It is the capital of Belgium and has a lovely choice of Brussels hotels for your complete enjoyment of this fascinating city. Historically Dutch-speaking, Brussels became more and more French-speaking over the 19th and 20th centuries. Today, most are native French-speakers, although both languages have official status. Don't worry - the professional staff of Brussels hotels also speak English and are there to serve you.

There are over 80 museums, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, and the Museum of Comics. Belgium is the homeland of the comic strip and you will discover comic strip graphics all over the city – some in surprising places, just not in the fine Brussels hotel!. Brussels is known for its local waffle, its chocolate, its Belgian Fries (often mistakenly called FRENCH Fries) and 500 types of beers. The Brussels sprout was first cultivated here!
The city has 1,800 restaurants and a number of high quality bars near your Brussels hotel's accommodation. Belgian cuisine, one of the best in Europe, is characterized by the combination of French cuisine with the more hearty Flemish fare. Notable specialties include Brussels waffles (gaufres) and mussels ("moules frites" - served with fries). The city is a stronghold of chocolate and pralines manufacturers – Godiva! Neuhaus! Leonidas! In tourist areas, fresh, hot, waffles are sold on the street and Brussels hotels may offer these famous treats for breakfast!
In addition to the traditional restaurants, there are cafés which serve beer and light dishes, and coffee houses, called the Salons de Thé. Also widespread are brasseries, which usually offer a variety of beers and typical national dishes. Be sure to book rooms in Brussels hotels so that you can recover nearby after tasting all that Brussels has to offer!

When planning accommodations, you will find that the city offers a variety of hotels from one star to luxury five star Brussels hotels. Among the best if the Brussels hotels are the Floris Ambiance hotels: Floris Avenue, Floris Louise, Floris Alrequin Grand Place and Floris Ustel Midi.
